The series was based on the book series written by Cecily von Ziegesar entitled "Gossip Girl". On September 19, 2007, The television series premiered on CW.
Gossip Girl series centers around the lives of privileged young adults on Manhattan's Upper East Side in New York City.
The fifth season of the television series was officially renewed by the CW On April 26th 2011
The cast were Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, Taylor Momsen, Kelly Rutherford, Matthew Settle and Jessica Szohr.
